Ananse
Ananse is a spider and at the same time the sun symbol. In Ghanaian mythology, the sun was seen as a huge spider that sits in its rays as if in a web.
In these old stories, Ananse is a cunning spider who tricks others into gaining wealth (more food) for herself. At the end of every Ananse story, Ananse always gets the lid on the nose, Good riddens.
